About the Podcast

After years of cracking each other up during long phone calls and late night video game sessions, brothers and entertainment industry professionals Mike D. McCarty and James Knight fulfilled a lifelong dream of working together when they started the genre movie review podcast The Head, The Tail, The Whole Damn Thing. 

​

Pairing older “classic” films with new releases, they dropped their first episode in 2024 on Friday the 13th of September.  Their quick rapport and infectious laughter prompted friend of the show Dana Gould (The Simpsons, Stan Against Evil, Hanging with Dr. Z) to feature them on his October 2024 episode of The Dana Gould Hour.

Since then, the audience for their podcast has been steadily growing.  In addition to dropping a new episode every two weeks the brothers host live horror events, run panel discussions at makeup FX conventions, drop special comedy and behind the scenes content on their Patreon and engage with their fans (The Whole Damn Family) on their private Discord Channel.

Mike’s experience working as a makeup FX artist for over 35 years (Weapons, From Dusk Till Dawn, Sin City, and more) and James’ 25 years of experience as a professional actor (Chicago PD, Person of Interest, National TV and voiceover commercials) give their show distinct behind-the-scenes and insider takes on the films they talk about. They also have a lot of laughs in the process.  Their Mother thinks they are hilarious.  They think you will, too.
