What is the difference between Friday and Saturday?
Nightmare on Chicago Street: The Arrival (Friday, Oct. 16) is a new concert-focused experience taking place exclusively on Chicago Street. The event features live performances by Gym Class Heroes, Plain White T's and The Ataris, along with a haunted attraction,food and beverage vendors, roaming performers and access to Cirq D' Freak.

Nightmare on Chicago Street (Saturday, Oct. 17) is the traditional event experience, transforming eight blocks of downtown Elgin into an immersive post-apocalyptic world featuring themed zones, live entertainment, specialty performers, food and beverage vendors, and Nightmare Alley, the event's signature haunted attraction.
Tickets for Friday and Saturday are sold separately. Admission to one event does not include admission to the other, and combination ticket packages are not available.

What is included with early entry for the ZDI All Access pass?
Early entry allows guests to access the event - 1 hour prior to start! During this time, guests can purchase food, enjoy the entertainment line-up, avoid long lines, shop for merch and secure their spot in the Safe Zone.

Who is the intended audience for this event?
This event is catered towards a mature audience. Anyone will be admitted, but citizens under 17 MUST be accompanied by a paid adult for the full duration of the event. Please be aware that certain aspects of the event, including performances, may NOT be suitable for younger audiences. The event happens in a dimly lit area and alcohol is allowed in the safe zone.

Can I bring a Stroller?
No strollers or wagons are allowed.

Can I bring weapons or weapon props?
Under no circumstances will weapons or weapon props be allowed into the safe zone. Citizens that want to enter with items of this nature one will be turned away IMMEDIATELY. If found in the zone with a weapon/prop, the item will be removed with no guaranteed of being returned to the owner. All props should be left at home for the safety of all citizens. ​

How is safety handled at the event?
The Zombie Defense Initiative takes plenty of precautions to make sure the safe zone is free of any harm to its citizens. Precautions have been taken to ensure the safety of everyone, and keep any mutations from spreading. If one is concerned about an experience, or possible toxic contamination, contact any Zombie Defense Initiative member.

Can I bring empty cups to drink from, or food from outside?
No outside food or beverages are allowed in the zone, including empty tumblers, cups, mugs, coolers, glassware or other containers.

Are animals allowed?
No animals allowed, except for service animals. Keep in mind this is a very loud and crowded happening.

Can I bring a bag?
No bags larger than 10"x6"x2" will be allowed to enter the safe zone. Anyone entering with a bag larger than the restricted size will be asked to return it back to their car.

Should I bring cash or card?
We encourage you to bring both. Depending on the merchant and available WIFI, either form of payment will be accepted.

Can I buy a ticket at the door?
Capacity is limited and this event may sell out. IF the event isn't sold out, there will be a separate box office for ticket sales only (tickets not sold at entrance gates). Only people with tickets will be let into the zone.

What if it rains?
A little rain will not stop the undead! In extreme weather cases, the Safe Zone of Nightmare on Chicago Street will close. Check our social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and website for updates on weather.

Where can I park?
We have designated parking locations as well as shuttles to take you to and from the event. VIP Parking will also be available to purchase with tickets. A handicapped parking lot will also be available to those who need it. Parking will be announced at a later date! ​

Should I dress up?
Dressing up is always encouraged! Immerse yourself in the experience, and confuse the undead.
